Oil paintings by Karen
Valente
Gallery 50, Inc. is seven years
old this April. We celebrate with an exhibition by painter Karen Valente of
Greenwich Folk Art and potter/glass artist, John Marselis. Linda Pirolli will
play authentic colonial music during the opening reception on Friday, April
6. Guests are invited to dress in colonial garb.
Karen Valente works in the style of 18th and 19th century painters. She paints
portraits of people and animals with hand made oil paints similar to those used
in Colonial American times. Karen has been featured in Early American Life magazine,
Orion magazine and in several shows throughout the year including the Winterthur
Museum Craft Show, The Waterford Foundation Crafts Exhibit, and The Hancock Shaker
Village Craft Show. Her paintings are in antique/gift shops nationwide including
the American Folk Art Museum in New York City.
John Marselis is a glass and pottery artist. He will be showing his most recent
work: wood-fired pottery.
The Research Club from Bridgeton, NJ is April’s show sponsor.
