CANNON graduated from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia Pa. CANNON founded La Bottega of Art Gallery and Copper Plate Studio in the Glasstown Arts District of Millville NJ. She is a member of the American Color Print Society, and Associate Member of the River Renaissance Center of Arts, Millville, NJ, Associate Member of the Noyes Museum, Oceanville, NJ. CANNON is a member of Gallery 50, in Bridgeton, NJ, Hammonton Arts Center, in Hammonton NJ. Selected exhibits and awards include Trenton City Museum Ellarslie Open XXVIII, runner up in printmaking. Ellarslie Open XXX, runner up in printmaking, Trenton NJ. National Small Print Show, Creede Co, award winner, in 2011. CANNON was accepted into the National Small Print Show, Creede Co, 2012, 2013, 2014. She has shown at the Philadelphia Sketch Club, Works on Paper Show 2012, 2014.CANNON’s etching has shown in Baker Arts Center, 15th National Juried Exhibition, Liberal, Ks. Etching Statement

The etching process has not changed in hundreds of years, yet I find it is little understood in this technical age. I get great satisfaction creating something totally by hand. Once the image is drawn, it is then chemically etched in to the metal plate with acid. I love looking for different ways to create a variety of line, shade and texture in my plates. I hand mix my inks. No two plates are ever inked exactly alike. The 100% cotton paper is soaked in a water bath waiting to be printed. The inked plate is placed face up on an etching press and covered with paper and press blankets and hand rolled through the press. The moment of truth is then hand pulled from the plate – A hand pulled Print. The very first ones are Artist Proofs signed A/P title and my signature. I love expanding a series into a collection. The Fairy series is a fantasy of little dragon fly creatures placed in different settings. They can be whimsical or erotic or inquisitive. Sometimes just a Nature study or Landscape in a sketchbook can become something wonderful in an etching. The bud, flower to seed pods are just a fun way to observe nature up close and personal. They are common weeds to unusual wild flowers that have a progression of changes. The collections are ongoing and always growing.
