To our friends,

This note is a little early — don’t expect the opening THIS Friday. It is on the following Friday, September 7. September is playing with us by starting itself on a Saturday and making “first Friday” seem late. However, we play back! Saturday, September 1st is both drop off day for our annual “Nature and the Landscape: An Environmental Perspective” and also for the one-day Plein Air Painting contest! Artist sign up at as early as 7:30 am and return the same day with a finished “plein air” painting. Scattered around Cumberland County will be hopeful artists painting landscapes of our beautiful county along the Cohansey River. If you want to see art in action, get in your car or on your bike and find painters at work! Information for artists about entering both contests is below. The exhibitions will be on display in Gallery 50, Inc. from September 5 – 28, 2018. Awards will presented during the opening night on the 7th.

With big cash awards, we needed many sponsors. Thank you to all — for “Regional Wetlands Competition: Nature and the Landscape,” a big thank you to Wilwynn Animal Hospital, Dr. Bill McAlonan, Peter & Jane Galetto, Don Cross, Burt & Jeanne Doremus and our Anonymous Patron. For the Plein Air Painting contests, a big thank to Cumberland County Cultural & Heritage Commission and us, Gallery 50, Inc.

This is one of our most popular re-occurring shows. We hope to see you in support of our artists and also to enjoy the tasty treats they bring along for opening night. Of course, the biggest support would be selecting a canvas to live in your home all year long! See you on the 7th!
