This year Third Star Fibre Artists Guild is celebrating its 40th
anniversary. The guild chose its name because New Jersey was the third state
to join the Union and the third star on the American flag. The same
innovative attitude possessed by New Jersey residents when the state was
among the first to promote a new government in this country is with the
members of the Third Star Fibre Artists Guild today. The group was formed to
promote enthusiasm, education, and excellence in the field of fiber arts.


Fiber guild members include spinners, weavers, knitters, basket makers,
quilters, crocheters, dyers, and people raising fiber producing animals. A
fiber guild is a place to make friends and exchange ideas with other people
who understand and enjoy the same interests. It is also a place to learn
basic or advanced techniques. Anyone with an interest in the fiber arts can
join the guild. No experience is needed to be a member. The guild meets the
second Monday of the month from September through June at 7:00 pm at the
Ware Agriculture Building in Mannington, NJ. Annual membership dues are $10.


The Gallery 50 show will highlight the work of our members including knitted
and crocheted work, weaving, cross-stitching, dolls, and quilting. There
will also be multiple handmade hats on display.


To continue our anniversary celebration, we will also be hosting a two-day
workshop weekend October 22-23. There is a weaving workshop and a spinning
workshop. On Saturday evening, there is an anniversary dinner and an open
house for the public to see guild member's work and make a marbleized silk
